2026-27 Coach Bios


U9MD - Dan Sharpe


With over 15 years of coaching experience, Coach Dan brings energy, passion, and a proven ability to develop young hockey players both on and off the ice. Known for his positive attitude and deep understanding of the game, he focuses on skill development, teamwork, and a strong work ethic—creating a fun, structured and rewarding environment for players of all ages and levels.

Dan’s personalized approach helps athletes grow in confidence by identifying individual strengths and areas for improvement. Beyond technical skills, he emphasizes character, sportsmanship, and resilience, aiming to shape not only better players but better people.


U11 Rep B - Christian Reinelt


Coach Christian will be the Head Coach of the U11 Rep B team for next season. He is going into his third year of coaching and will be focusing on team dynamics, systems, work ethic, a culture of accountability both on and off the ice and helping his players develop their skills and continue to foster the love of the game.

Known for high-energy sessions, purposeful training, and a relentless pursuit of excellence without sacrificing fun, sportsmanship, or character.

Having grown up playing AAA hockey in Lambton County and later playing Junior B and Junior C, Christian has a strong connection to the hockey community. He currently lives in Newcastle with his wife Kate and kids, he spends his days as a business owner running BDS Hockey.


U13 Rep B - Jay Henderson


Jay Henderson, returning coach to the U13 Reb B program in Orono grew up in Bowmanville and played his minor hockey with the Clarington Toros. He has extensive experience coaching minor hockey in both Orono and Clarington. Jay also coaches AAA minor baseball with the Clarington Orioles. 

Jay is very excited to be back and looking forward to a great 2027 season.


U15 Rep B - Aaron McLeod 


Coach Aaron brings a strong passion for the game of hockey and a commitment to player development within the OAAA association. As both a dedicated hockey supporter and active member of the community, His focus is on creating a positive and structured environment where players can grow their skills, build confidence, and learn the value of teamwork.

His coaching philosophy emphasizes effort, accountability, and respect for teammates, coaches, and the game itself. He is looking forward to supporting the development of Orono’s U15 athletes and contributing to a positive and competitive season for the team.


U16 Rep B - Tyler Knight


Tyler has had a very long and successful coaching career in Orono, posting consecutive undefeated seasons which culminated in championships. He is known for his firm but fair approach and fosters a disciplined, team first brand of hockey. 

Tyler grew up in Newcastle where his minor hockey career started. He came to Orono hockey in his teen years, which resulted in two berths in the All Ontario finals, claiming a championship once.
