New to Hockey? (Orono Amateur Athletic Association)

PrintNew to Hockey?

New to hockey???

There are a few things that will need to be done to make sure your player is ready for the hockey season.

Hockey Canada Registry (Spordle)

This is where you will sign you player up and they will receive an HCR number that will follow them for their hockey career.
Once you player is registered, a player’s profile in the Hockey Canada Registry will need to be completed with documents as well as
to link the Respect in Sport Parent program to that player.

Documents

A copy of the player's birth certificate is required as well as proof of residency which can confirm the address on file. OMHA (our governing body) will accept a parent driver's licence or a current utility bill (date must be visible) for the residence on file. These documents must be uploaded to the player's profile.

Respect in Sport Parent Program

A parent will have to take the Respect in Sport Parent Program.

If the course has been taken for another sport, you will need to import the certificate to Orono hockey. If the course has been taken for another child in your family, you will need to add your new player under the child management section which can be found under Profile > Profile Management > Child Management.

Equipment and Player Pathway

The OMHA website has a list that will let you know what is needed for equipment and the player pathway for the season and much more helpful information for getting started in hockey. https://www.omha.net/playhockey

Here is a sample of what is required.

Please note that the player’s jerseys and socks will only be given out once the teams are formed. Players will need their own jerseys and socks for evaluation skates.

Hockey equipment kits can be purchased at most sports stores and have almost everything needed for your players to get on the ice.
